All About Me

I’m Sarah Gralton, a certified Emerging GIS Professional (GISP-E), and I am currently completing my final semester at the University of West Florida, where I am earning a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems. Alongside my studies, I work as a GIS Intern with the Chatham County Department of Engineering in Savannah, gaining hands-on experience applying spatial analysis and mapping to real-world county issues. At my internship, I have also gained experience in the field operating Trimble LiDAR scanner, Trimble GPS stations, drone flights for aerial imagery, and ArcGIS Field Maps.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from the University of Tampa in 2020 and began my career in environmental education, where I developed strong communication skills and a passion for teaching others, young students and adults alike, about environmental stewardship. While I loved that work, I wanted to transition into a more technical role within the environmental field—one where I could analyze problems, create solutions, and support decision-making for the issues I care about. That goal led me to pursue GIS.

My long-term objective is to combine my environmental background with my new GIS skill set to support sustainable planning, resource management, and contribute to data-driven environmental solutions.

Outside of my academic and professional work, I enjoy spending time outside trail running and hiking, reading a variety of book genres, and traveling with my husband.
